Holden Caulfield is one of the the majority of hypocritical characters in materials. He usually spends the entire publication complaining about each of the 'phonies' around him when in truth he is one of the biggest phonies of all. Through the entire novel, there are plenty of events where Holden displays his hypocrisy. There are 3 primary good examples. Holden first displays hypocrisy when he met Earnest Morrow's mother for the train on his way to New York. As well, when he echoes about Stradlater's sexual advances and his individual. Finally, exceptional examples of Holden's hypocritical activities are the several times he would go to the pubs while in New York. Holden boarded a late teach to Nyc where an attractive older girl chose to take a seat right following to him instead of one of the other seats in the cart. The woman seen Holden had a Pencey Prepare sticker on his suitcase and asked in the event that he went there and if this individual knew her son, Ernest Morrow. Holden says yes and the female was happy and nice. However , Holden truly illustrates his personal phoniness when ever she requests him what his name was. Holden quickly said, ‘Rudolf Schmidt, ' who was truly the janitor at Pencey. Holden then simply started, " shooting the old crap in regards to little bit" (Salinger 71). Holden advised some of the most absurd lies to Mrs. Morrow about her son. He referred to Ernest like these people were good friends if he said, " Old Ernie" He's one of the popular boys at Pencey" (73). Then Holden " Really started chucking this crap around" (73). Holden then starts off telling is placed about the class elections and how a bunch of youngsters wanted old Ernie to become president, and was the unanimous vote, and how he thought he'd really be able to deal with the job (Salinger 74). In the meantime, when Holden thinks about Ernest Morrow, he referred to him as " doubtless the largest bastard that ever traveled to Pencey, in all of crumby history of the school" (71).
